Capture holiday memories.
With a year like we’ve had, most of us want to end the year on a high note, giving thanks and relishing the meaning of the holidays shared with families and loved ones. That’s the spirit! So, here’s some ideas for creating holiday memories in unique and meaningful ways.

Ornamental fun: Stage a fun photo shoot with pets or unique items like a toilet paper Christmas tree. Take pictures of everyone and make them into tree ornaments. It can be heartfelt, silly or even tacky (think ugly sweaters).

2020 Mugshots: Have each family member write a quippy saying on a small dry-erase board and take “2020 holiday mugshots” with a black & white filter. That way you can have some laughs in the years ahead and poke fun at your serious expressions and masked faces from when you were “booked.”

Give back by volunteering: Giving to a charity is great, and doing it together creates some heartfelt memories while helping a worthy cause. It might require a little searching and planning, but definitely worthwhile.

Care packages: Make emergency care packages for those in need. Form a family “assembly line” to fill large freezer bags with essential items like water, toothpaste, snack bars, hand sanitizer, Kleenex and other items. When your kits are assembled, you can keep them in your cars to distribute to those in need, or give them in bulk to a local church or charity so they can distribute them appropriately.

No matter what activities you choose to partake in this holiday season, doing it together is the stuff of memories. Embrace the season and give thanks and re-discover the reason for the season!

Putting it in park: Tips to ace any parking maneuver.
When you own a Fleetwood, you want to keep your pride & joy protected from the elements and protected from damage. One of the most-common instances when damage can occur is when backing into a tight, dark or unfamiliar parking spot or simply backing up to turn around. Here’s a few quick tips to aid your “back up plan” and making tight low-speed turns.

Mirror, mirror. Make sure your mirrors are clean, clear and properly aimed. Most drivers tend to keep their field of view a little too tight on the sides. Adjust them wider so you can just barely see the sides of your coach with your head in the normal driving position. That way, you see side obstacles early as you back up.

Retrace your steps. When making a tight turn and realizing you’re too close to an obstacle, check your path and back up carefully the way you came. Then, if possible, reapproach with a wider arc or later turn to see if you’ve made a clear path. You’d be surprised how just a few extra inches on approach can dramatically improve your trajectory when coming about.

Back up as little as possible. Sounds obvious, right? But try your best to completely avoid situations where backing up is necessary. When entering any lot or access area, it helps to pause for a few moments to scan and plan for places you can either drive through or that will fit the turning radius of your RV (Fleetwood RVs with Freightliner Custom Chassis are known for their tight turning radius).

Take your time, use your cameras and don’t be pressured into a parking mistake because of someone else (we promise they’ll get over it). If something doesn’t feel right, get out and inspect or have a spotter guide you. Follow your instincts, maneuver where you feel confident and put time on your side.

Follow these tips and you’ll be in the best position to back up confidently and securely and avoid a jam!
