Harvest fall family fun.
The perfect apple of your eye awaits.
The bright, dry days of fall are a great time for apple picking and festival trips with the whole gang. A full harvest of good times is ripe and waiting.
Go out on a limb—safely.
Outdoor family fun can be just the antidote to being cooped up for so long, but it can feel risky, too. Fortunately, you can minimize potential exposure when you pack your motorhome for a day of apple picking and corn mazes. Even a short, local trip is made more confidently when you take the motorhome, ensuring travel with a clean bathroom, fresh drinking water, a kitchen space to wash the fruits of your labor, and a comfortable spot for little ones to get a well-deserved nap.
When in fall, bring It all.
With the daily changes in weather, the ample storage in your motorhome is ready to swallow enormous amounts of gear—blankets, chairs, coats, boots, heaters and more. But don’t forget the small stuff: sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses, hats, masks, hand sanitizer, bottled water, and snacks. Better yet, make a checklist and hit the road with a great feeling, knowing you and your gang will be ready to have fun, weather or not.
A backstage pass to fun.
This fall, your motorhome can get you in to some spectacular hands-on adventures for kids (and grown-up kids alike). Paid sites such as Harvest Hosts get you access to free overnight camping at museums, farms and other exclusive experiences where they even let you feed horses or bring in the eggs. Blogs from KOA or The Dyrt bring a DIY approach to unique seasonal spots as well as activities.
Go from farm to fork.
Plan the picnic to end all picnics with a festive feast that includes the seasons eatings. Use your ample kitchen space to wash and prepare a meal that includes the day’s bounty, right on-site. Apples, squash and everything pumpkin spice to complete a buffet filled with local freshness. Later on, after a day of fun at the festival, warm up some cider and hot cocoa and bring out the meat and cheese tray chilling in your RV. Put caramel dip at the top of the list!
Follow the fests.
Look for lists such as the “22 Best Fall Harvest Festivals and Events Across America” from O, The Oprah Magazine, to see what’s happening through November. Just be sure to check online or call ahead to confirm. Whether it’s pumpkins or pecans your heart is after, you can find ways to cling to the joys of camping season.
